*$5,100 is the value estimated for Extra Help in 2022 by the Social Security Administration. To apply, you must reside in the U.S. and have limited resources and income. Extra Help assistance can pay monthly premiums, annual deductibles and co-payments related to Medicare prescription drug coverage. Some beneficiaries may also qualify for state assistance paying premiums for Part B. A licensed insurance agent can help with initial screening and applications, but eligibility can only be determined by the relevant state agency.
**$1,600/month for over-the-counter items – Some plans offer a monthly or quarterly over-the-counter (OTC) allowance for pharmacy products such as pain relievers, cough and cold medicines, allergy medications, and first aid/medical supplies. Plans may have a restricted list of pharmacies and products that the allowance can be used for. All Medicare Advantage Plans will have an ‘Evidence of Coverage’ document that will explain the list of items and pharmacies covered.
°$900 in healthy foods grocery card – Some plans provide a monthly allowance up to $75 ($900/year) to spend in participating stores for the purchase of healthy foods.
°°$400 for eyeglasses + more! – Some plans pay up to $400 per calendar year for coverage of contact lenses or eyeglasses (frames and lenses). See plan for participating vision retailers.
