Does Medicare Cover Dental Services?

Getting Dental Coverage Under Medicare Advantage

DO YOU NEED DENTAL COVERAGE WITH MEDICARE ADVANTAGE?

Tooth loss and other dental issues are much more common than you may think. This can make it more difficult to eat, smile, and live a pain-free life. In addition, tooth loss can even affect the bone structure of your face. It is especially important to ensure that you are getting the most comprehensive coverage possible when it comes to all of your healthcare needs.

DOES MEDICARE ADVANTAGE COVER DENTAL SERVICES?

Although dental care is rarely covered under Original Medicare Parts A and B, many Medicare Advantage, or Medicare Part C, plans include some sort of dental coverage. These plans are offered through private insurance carriers. As such, they often combine Original Medicare Part A and Part B benefits into one comprehensive plan. In addition to this, Medicare Advantage plans may offer even more benefits, including dental services such as:

Fillings and Crowns

Surgical Tooth Extractions and Root Canals

Dentures and Dental Implants

Routine Teeth Cleanings
HOW CAN I GET A MEDICARE PLAN
THAT INCLUDES DENTAL BENEFITS?

Currently, Original Medicare Parts A and B do not cover the cost of any dental needs with the exception of emergency facial reconstructive surgery. That said, however, it is possible to receive dental coverage under a Medicare Advantage plan, also known as Medicare Part C.

Please note that Medicare Advantage plans are health insurance plans that are offered by private insurance companies. By law, they are required to offer the same level of coverage as Original Medicare, but they can usually offer additional coverage for other healthcare needs as well. With a Medicare Advantage Plan, exact benefits and the price of your plan can vary, but dental needs such as those described above are usually covered in some form.

At MedicareInsurance.com, our licensed insurance agents and Medicare Advantage experts can help you research and compare hundreds of Medicare Advantage plans in your area in an effort to help you find one that works for your dental care needs.
